Vivy Chao

Vivy Chao, Ed.D. has over ten years of experience as an educator.  She has been a highly rated lecturer within the College of Education at the California State University, Long Beach, where she was nominated for “Employee of the Month” and was also a faculty mentor to first-generation college students through the Partners for Success program. Her work included regularly monitoring her students’ academic progress and helping them with their personal, academic, and career goals. She also worked as a field representative in the California State Assembly, where she specialized in event planning, fundraising, and relationship building in the community.

She was a 2014 Fellow at the Los Angeles Unified School District through Education Pioneers. She is also a blogger for The Huffington Post and was the interim CEO for Nanoogo, an education startup that built presentation platforms for students in elementary school. Currently, she is the founder of Yang Camp and on the Summit Public Schools’ Expeditions team.  Through the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), Vivy is a certified Entrepreneurship teacher. Her main focus in the classroom include getting 100% student engagement and 100% passing rates.

She received her bachelor’s in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles and her master’s in Postsecondary Administration of Student Affairs from the University of Southern California. She completed her doctorate in Higher Education Leadership at Argosy University with a dissertation focus on student efficacy levels.
